As an annual sponsor of the Masters, IBM launched a new brand campaign at this world-famous tournament. For the “Made with IBM” campaign, we produced 50+ commercials that would air only once during the tournament. To produce the ads in record time, we (Ogilvy New York) dispatched three filmmakers (Joe Pytka, Jesse Dylan and Doug Pray) to 17 countries for over a little more than 10 days to document its technology in action. About half of the spots, which are 30 or 60 seconds long, feature businesses, public agencies and other IBM customers.
It was all hands on deck and the creative department was split up and deployed to all parts of the globe to conduct interviews and shoot the commercials. I worked on five of the ads in the campaign: Banorte (Mexico City), Nationwide (New York), MD Anderson (Houston), Miami-Dade County and SunLife Stadium (both in Miami).
